Lydia Gifford: L’art dans les Chapelles

3 July - 31 August 2026

Tristan Hoare Gallery is delighted to announce a new body of work by Lydia Gifford at Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Fleurs in Moric as part of the 35th edition of L’art dans les Chapelles.

The annual event invites artists from around the world to create site-specific work in heritage buildings across Centre-Bretagne dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. Gifford’s pieces have been made specifically for the Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs.

Lydia Gifford (b. 1979, Cheltenham, UK) is a London-based artist whose work resides in the liminal space between painting and sculpture — where material becomes gesture and surface becomes emotion. Her practice is a nuanced exploration of form and feeling, privileging intuition, spontaneity, and the emotive over the strictly calculated or conceptual.

Gifford's work is held in several prominent public collections, including the Margulies Collection, the Jumex Foundation, FRAC Auvergne, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and Kunsthaus Zürich. She had a solo show, Undercurrent, at Tristan Hoare Gallery in September, 2025.

The exhibition continues until the 31st of August.
