Based between Norfolk and London, Sussy Cazalet (b. 1983) studied printed textiles before completing a BA in Interior Architecture at Parsons School of Design, New York. Extensive travel between Los Angeles and New York during this period fostered her early appreciation of mid-century modernist design and architecture, influences that continue to shape her practice.

Cazalet began her career working in theatre design and art direction, and later designed a furniture collection, before turning her focus to weaving rugs and tapestries. Over the past four years, her deepening commitment to weaving has taken her across India, Africa, and the Middle East, where she has sought out master weavers to translate her meticulous yet bold watercolour studies into textile form.

Working in close collaboration with her weavers, Cazalet has developed a distinctive palette of hand-mixed dyes and a bespoke weaving technique that allows her highly individual visual language to be expressed through fibre.

In May 2023, Cazalet presented her first solo exhibition at Tristan Hoare Gallery, London. The exhibition, Kyoto Sun, showcased nine woven silk and wool tapestries. Her work has most recently appeared on the front cover of House & Garden’s October 2025 issue and was the subject of a feature article in Cabana Magazine. Recent notable commissions include Ehlers Vineyard, Napa Valley; Houghton Hall, Norfolk; Gorhambury House, St Albans; and The Chancery Rosewood, London.
