Currently, the only non-American theatre from Yves and Romain’s Movie Theatres series. Located in the old Medina in Tangier, Morocco, Teatro Cervantes was built and owned by the Spanish government. The first stone was laid on April 2, 1911 in a solemn ceremony, and was completed in 1913, the year of its inauguration. The theatre was originally built to fill the cultural needs of what was then the largest non-Moroccan community in Tangier, with a capacity of 1,400 seats. However, with WWI beginning the following year, its potential was never reached. The facade of the theatre was designed in a typical art deco style with intricate tile work and statuary.

The theatre is currently vacant.
