In order to create his botanical pieces, Baratier grows the plants, harvests them and then fuses them together to act as his canvas, before printing photographic images onto them and completing the work with his signature symbol. He often produces dyes from the plants he harvest and then uses them to produce his prints, thus creating an image of nature printed on and with nature. Baratier’s relationship to plants and understanding of the fabric of the paper give each work a unique feel and texture.
