Flavie Audi's glass bricks, from her 2nd solo show at the gallery in Fitzroy Square, are now available for purchase!

Audi originally studied the Architectural Association before transitioning into an MA in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Arts. Audi’s architectural background shines through in the very precise positioning of each individual brick on the wall. Before any brick was installed, Audi mapped out an exact grid on the wall in order to place the bricks in the correct row in relation to each other. The pattern in which the bricks were installed is evocative of a musical score.

The bricks are created using dichroic glass which was originally manufactured for the aerospace industry. This process utilises a a highly technical vacuum method to produce a multi-layered coating on the glass. Quartz Crystal and Metal Oxides are vaporised with an electron beam gun in a vacuum chamber which causes the   vapour to float upward and attach itself to the surface of the glass, forming a crystal structure. This process is what gives the bricks their unusual colours and patterns.
